Wellington councillors must say yes to more homes
City for People is back, working together to advocate for more homes.
It’s time to put pressure on Wellington City Council (again) and make sure they vote for more housing.
City for People is back.
In 2021, we successfully campaigned for an ambitious Spatial Plan for Wellington that would enable our city to build more homes. But the Spatial Plan is not legally binding – it’s just a blueprint. We need to make sure councillors carry the ambition of the Spatial Plan into the new District Plan: the rulebook for the next 30 years.
City for People has been on hiatus for a while. Hard-working, effective volunteers like ours are in high demand and can’t be everywhere at once. But we’ve put the band back together to launch another impactful campaign for Wellington’s future.
We’ve heard that Wellington City Council will be finalising the new District Plan in March 2024. Councillors must say yes to building more homes in our city.
